Cabecera The Moisturizer - REVIEW: Holika Holika Pure Essence Mask Sheet Lemon
Do you use sheet masks? They were popularized by Korean skincare routines, in which they are used to boost skin hydration. Using them just feels amazing, nothing compares to just chilling with a mask on your face. Let me tell you my experience with the Holika Holika Pure Essence Mask Sheet Lemon on today’s review!

Hello! How are you? You know I’ve been doing a little immersion in Korean cosmetics for a while, and today I’m going to follow up on that matter. If you want a few tips on where to buy Korean cosmetics, you can take a look at this post. In this case, I’ll speak about a sheet mask, about which I spoke briefly in my post on how to properly use cosmetics products.

BRAND: HOLIKA HOLIKA
PRODUCT: PURE ESSENCE MASK SHEET LEMON
SKIN TYPE: ALL
RECOMMENDED FOR: UNISEX

You can get the Holika Holika Pure Essence Mask sheet lemon on Beauty Bay.

As I said, this is the first sheet mask that I review. This type of masks are popular for being single use masks, so they are designed to provide your skin with a good dose of nutrition and hydration, but will never be the same as what your beauty routines give you. Using a sheet mask has some advantages, such as the comfort and simplicity of its use, as they allow to apply the essence of which they are loaded with little effort.

Holika Holika was born in South Korea in 2010 with the idea of creating and distributing quality, simple and, above all, economic products. You’ve probably seen their masks and fell for their designs. A part of me just wants to buy them all simply because they are beautiful. I would like to try some more, so maybe eventually publish some review of some other sheet mask by the brand. In this case, in the same line as the Lemon mask I speak about, Holika Holika has developed other ones: rice, green tea, shea butter, avocado, cucumber, strawberry, damask rose, pearls and açaí.

When opening the package and putting the mask on, the first thing you notice is that it contains a lot of essence, which is nice, although perhaps it is a bit excessive (I left a fairly decent amount inside the package and that’s just wasted). The feeling on the skin is nice, very moisturizing and rich, and has a very nice lemon smell. It should be taken into account that the main ingredient of this mask (by far) is water, so it is logical that we have that moisturizing sensation. When removed, the skin is left with a slightly oily sensation (which I did not like, the truth) and a little artificial shine (not glow). Honestly, when I took it off, it made me want to wash my face again.

I am not very keen on the sheet masks (or, at least, so far I have not found any that really convince me). On the one hand, they are heavily loaded with water, so the amount of active ingredients is pretty low. This means that you will never be able to replace the effectiveness of your usual beauty routines (although sometimes brands try to sell it like that). However, if you want to treat yourself, it can be an interesting way to moisturize your skin and add a little extra nutrients.

Among the ingredients of this mask we can find lemon extract, rich in citric acid and it can be irritating to the most sensitive skins, camomile extract, rich in antioxidants, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, and orange oil, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and that fosters the production of collagen.

As you can see in the photos, this product comes in a very nice packaging. It’s simple but attractive. The mask is found in a yellow plastic bag with blue accents. Inside the bag you will see the mask very well folded and surrounded by the essence that pervades our skin. Be careful when opening it, as it might drop a few drops of essence, so you better do it over the sink.

It is difficult to give a final opinion of a product thought to be used only once. At the end of the day, the best way to know if you bring real results is with time. In any case, I do not think I buy this mask again, because I have not finished convincing.

HOW TO USE

:
Sheet masks are perhaps one of the simplest products of Korean cosmetics. To use it you only have to wash your face and then place it well, making sure that as much of the mask as possible is in contact with your skin. You must let it work for about 15-20 minutes, remove it and continue with the rest of your routine normally, applying serums and moisturizer.

This graphic aims to help you understand in which part of your skincare routine you should use each product.
You don’t need to do all the steps from this routine (but you should always cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen).
Remember it’s key to do a patch test every time you consider adding new products to your skincare routine.
